Chinese Studies in Beijing

Description
Study a variety of topics with leading Chinese scholars at Beijing Foreign
Studies University, one of the city’s most prestigious universities.

Curriculum
Each semester student registers for 10 credits of intensive intermediate or
advanced Mandarin Chinese plus two area studies courses. Internships
available in educational and community service organizations. Instruction in
English by Western and Chinese scholars. Typical credits: 32 per year; 16
per semester.

Estimated Cost
2001—02: Reduced costs for University of Minnesota students, academic
year $14,840; semester $7,800. Cost includes tuition, fees, housing, field
trips. Airfare, meals, personal expenses additional.

Eligibility & Application
Open to juniors and seniors. Applications reviewed until mid-March
deadline for fall/year; mid-September for spring.
