Information about Chinese Placement Tests
All students have to take a placement test unless s/he has previously completed Chinese language courses at the University of Minnesota. No sign-up is necesary for taking the Chinese Placement tests. Just come to the Office of the Chinese Program in Room 227A/227B in Folwell Hall ten minutes before the testing time. The schedule for the placement tests is as follows:
For Summer 2013:
Tuesday, June 18, 1:00-3:00, in Room 227A/227B in Folwell Hall
For Fall 2013:
Wednesday, August 28, 3:00-5:00, in Room 227A/227B in Folwell Hall
Thursday, September 5, 3:00-5:00, in Room 227A/227B in Folwell Hall
For Spring 2014:
Time: Thursday, January 14, 3:00-5:00
Place: Room 227A/227B in Folwell Hall
If you want to prepare for the test, please take a look at Integrated Chinese. These books are available at the University Bookstore in Coffman Union. You will be tested on listening, speaking, grammar and reading comprehension.

The placement test paper for this course will not be based on a specific textbook.
Instead, it will test the students' proficiency of the Chinese language.
