CHN 3031 Advanced Modern Chinese Instructor: Chiping Li, Teaching Specialist This course will be open only to those students who have completed the
equivalent of the first 2 years of the Chinese Language Curriculum at
the U of M. The focus will be on improving reading skills, building vocabulary,
mastering new sentence structures and expressing one's ideas and opinions
(especially about the readings) in both spoken and written Chinese. Both
prepared and unprepared (spontaneous) responses to the written materials
will be focused on in classroom Class time: 20% lecture, 60% discussion, 20% Q &
