Prerequisite Chinese3021, 5.0 cr
This course, the second segment of a two-semester course in intermediate
modern Chinese language, is intended for students who have completed Chinese
3021 or the equivalent. Students who have not completed Chinese 3021 but
wish to register need the instructor's consent. The course will help students
improve their ability to understand, speak, read, and write Chinese, and
particularly aims to help students develop more sophisticated vocabulary
and more complex sentence structures so that they can meet the standard
of Chinese GPT. It will cover lessons 11-20 of the textbook "Integrated
Chinese" Level 2 by Yuehua Liu, Tao-chung Yao et al (Chen & Tsui
Company). By the end of the semester, students should be able to understand
spoken Chinese, conduct fairly sustained conversation in Chinese, read
Chinese articles of some sophistication, and write compositions in Chinese
for general communication purposes.
